Going too far...Destroying the truth with the truth. Someone has said that Satan will use 99 parts truth to float one lie. While Steve agrees with that, he goes one step farther. Steve thinks that Satan also takes one truth and pushes it and pushes it until it is no longer true. For example: The Calvinist who takes the truth of God's absolute sovereignty and makes it into a hurtful philosophical determinism. Christians who, rightly so, expect God to act in their lives but when he doesn't do what they want, think that God has abandoned them. Christians who, rightly so, accept church discipline as a mark of the true church but then become narrow, judgmental and condemning. The truth about God's Word, silence, law, love, sovereignty, grace, discipline and providence. It is important we learn both truth and balance.
